Week 12 Picks

Nothing like a 2-0 Thanksgiving to build the confidence heading into the Sunday games. The one fun thing about the Vegas odds is you can see which teams the bookies have bought into, and who they are still on the fence about. Minnesota, for example, has played better since Culpepper went down, but they are only getting 4 at home to Cleveland. Anyways, on to the picks:

Best Bets:
Chicago at Tampa Bay -3
I’m going to ride this Chicago bandwagon for as long as they play these overrated NFC South teams. The Tampa defense has given up a lot of points the last two weeks, and if you think Chris Simms and co are going to score 30+ on the Bears, you’ve eaten too much turkey.
Chicago 20 Tampa Bay 10

St. Louis at Houston +3.5
Jamie Martin has pushed me into doing the impossible: Picking Houston as a best bet game.
Houston 20 St. Louis 17

Confident Picks:
Carolina at Buffalo -3.5
Pro Tip of the year: If JP Losman is starting for Buffalo, bet against them. Carolina rebounds and splits their northern road trip.
Carolina 31 Buffalo 10

Baltimore at Cincinnati -9
The Ravens have got me twice in their games versus Pittsburgh. Still, I don’t think they can handle the Bengals at this point.
Cincinnati 24 Baltimore 7

The Rest
New England at Kansas City -3
This should be a very interesting game. It is also a tough one to call. The Chiefs are tough at home, but I’m going with the champs.
New England 27 Kansas City 24

San Diego at Washington +3
In depth preview tomorrow but this pains me to write
San Diego 23 Washington 21

Cleveland at Minnesota -4
Cleveland looked good last week, but they still are a long way from being good consistently. The Vikings turnaround continues, at least until they play someone good.
Minnesota 20 Cleveland 14

San Francisco at Tennessee -8
I’m startled by this 8 point spread, but when two weak teams play off, anything can happen And so I’m guessing here.
Tennessee 24 San Francisco 20

Jacksonville at Arizona +3.5
Jacksonville has started to score some points of late. This doesn’t bode well for the Swiss cheese defense of the Cardinals
Jacksonville 31 Arizona 20

Miami at Oakland -7
Gus Frerotte to the rescue, as even with an injured finger, he’s still the best option the Fins have. Miami’s run defense, a week after being shredded by Ruben Droughns, faces a similar back in Lamont Jordan. I vote for the Fins to bounce back, a little.
Oakland 24 Miami 20

NY Giants at Seattle -4.5
I don’t trust the Seahawks one bit. The more you consider all the NFC contenders, the more you realize whoever comes out is going to get pounded in the Super Bowl. Luckily Eli Manning is still due for another 3 interception game, so the pick is Seattle.
Seattle 28 NY Giants 24

Green Bay at Philadelphia -4.5
Two offenses that have been decimated by injuries and suspensions meet up in Philly. Philly’s defense gives them the edge.
Philadelphia 17 Green Bay 10

New Orleans at NY Jets +1
How bad must you be if New Orleans is favored on the road against you? That’s a blow to the confidence right there. Sadly for Jet fans, the odds are right.
New Orleans 24 NY Jets 17

Pittsburgh at Indianapolis -8
Another Monday night barnburner. Even with Big Ben back in the lineup, the Steelers aren’t the type of team to beat the Colts. You need to be able to score a lot of points. The Steelers will run and try to control the clock, but I just don’t see them getting enough touchdowns to keep pace.
Indianapolis 31 Pittsburgh 20

Redskins on the Web - 11/25/05

Not much today, as it was Thanksgiving, but here’s two articles I found for you:

WP - Redskins run a Fade Pattern
- Talking about the 2-5 record in the past seven to ruin the good start.

Annapolis Capitol - Redskins Lost Look of a Contender

BallHype: hype it up!

  • If you think the Washington team is going to get within 10 points of San Diego, you’re not paying attention. This team (my team, by the way) is toast, dead, done! LT is going to kill these bums.
