Still Alive and Kicking

What a stressful game. It was a typical ugly road game for the Redskins. But a win is a win and the season continues another week. That’s a good thing, no matter which way you slice it.

The offense was horrible, but keep in mind Brunell only had 15 pass attempts and Portis was clearly hurting. Improvement is obviously needed but keep the disappointment in check. Special Teams were pretty good. I was ready to name Derrick Frost as the game MVP up until that horribly timed shank late in the 4th quarter. John Hall made his kick, and the coverage units did alright.

As for the defense, what can you say? They were tremendous all day. Yes, the Bucs missed a few shots late, but don’t forget the Redskins missed a few early shots (the Portis pass and the fake screen deep ball to Moss). Both touchdowns should be credited towards the defense even though they only scored the one. You can’t credit the offense for a five yard touchdown drive. Good on Arrington for getting that pick, and you can’t say enough about the defensive line. They shut down the run, and they batted back more than a few balls.

Yes, it was an ugly win. But think back to week 10 and that pretty loss to Tampa Bay. I’ll take this one any day. So enjoy this one for a few days, and come Monday we can prepare for the Seahawks.

Hail to the Redskins!

  • Dang, Kornholer is right, the skins got LUCKY with the Bucs mistakes.

Don’t expect the Seahawks to hand the ball over as generously next week.

Btw, It looks like this week your blog is the nemesis to ours, 12 Seahawks Street. Feel free to drop in anytime!

  • Arrgh, how in the hell did then skins win the game with such a horrible performance? How long can they keep that up vs. good teams?

Oh, that’s right - not any more.

  • Not for nothing, but Carson Palmer threw ONE pass and had a better statistical outing than Mark Brunell!

Looking forward to our Saturday afternoon matchup.

  • HA! That’s a good, one, Al!

Brunell scares me like marsupials do.

  • Hey Seahawks fans……please forgive us REDSKINS Fans for not fearing:
    1) a team from the ultra competitive NFC WEST 2) who only beat 4 teams with a winning record in their 13-3 record…..2 of which shouldn’t even count. (Colts game….yeah that was the real COLTS…NOT. The Giants Win….how many kicks did Feeley miss to NOT win the game?).

  • “Dang, Kornholer is right, the skins got LUCKY with the Bucs mistakes.”

You can call it luck, or you can call it great D. The Skins advance, and the NFC East Champion Giants get to watch from their living rooms. So you can call it whatever you like.

“Don’t expect the Seahawks to hand the ball over as generously next week.”

Nobody expects any team to cough up 5 TO’s. But let’s not kid ourselves: the Seattle D is no Buc D.

“Arrgh, how in the hell did then skins win the game with such a horrible performance? How long can they keep that up vs. good teams? Oh, that’s right - not any more.”

Hehe, that reminds me of the game—after the game had been won and the Skins were running the last few minutes off the clock, one of the announcers said “you can’t win in the playoffs if you play like this”. And as the Skins took a knee, my friend says, “Oh, I beg to differ”.

Kornheiser also had some nice things to say about the Seattle playoff record. Bwah ha ha. Last time they won a playoff game was, what, 1986? And as Anonymous alluded to, the Seahawks are the worst 13-3 team in the NFL.

  • Im glad Redskins fans know more about the Seahawks then we do—lets hope your team isn’t underestimating them like you guys are

You guys were a horrible PI call away from losing to us earlier in the year—so thatgame doesn’t count (since the Giants andColts games dont)…and we only lost to GB because we benched our starters…so that doesn’t count, either…

So I guess we’re 13-3 no matter how you look at it…but oh yeah, if you watched the Giants game, you would of saw the horrible TD call by the refs—that game was ours in regulation…but hey, im sure you watched it

I don’t know how some of you can call yourselves true fans by taking up for a division rival…
