Early Lines, Injury Update, View from Seattle
Early Lines
The Redskins line is way too high. Its what happens when the Skins struggle offensively one week and the media spends a week telling everyone how Seattle is the class of the conference. Vegas knows where to put these lines to fit public perception. Everything else seems ok, although the it wouldn’t surprise me if the Denver line comes down.
Washington at Seattle – Seahawks favored by 9.5
Carolina at Chicago – Bears favored by 3
Pittsburgh at Indianapolis – Colts favored by 9.5
New England at Denver – Broncos favored by 3
View from Seattle
If you are looking to see what the Seattle fans are talking about this week. Here’s a blog with a ton of writers and a lot of features. They’ll have updates all week long. Looks like a good site, sadly they cheer for a team that hasn’t won a playoff game since 1984. But you have to give credit the Seahawks; they haven’t made it past the wild card round since 1988.
Injury Updates
Renaldo Wynn is done for the year. He had surgery on his broken forearm and it’s too serious to play with a cast. James Thrash suffered a fractured thumb in the game. He will have surgery on it today, and will be fitting with a cast. He may be able to play on Saturday. Shawn Springs is still day to day, although last week he was confident he’ll be able to play this week. Clinton Portis is aching but will play. He was rested while the Redskins had the 14 point lead, and that will continue, but if needed expect him to carry the load.
What’s ahead this week on The Redskin Report:
Tuesday – Look back at the 1st Seattle Game
Wednesday – Redskins Defense vs. Seattle Offense
Thursday – Redskins Offense vs. Seattle Defense
Friday – Special Teams and Game Picks
Today in the Post:
Taylor not likely to face suspension; Kornheiser on Seattle; Injury update; Notebook

Thanks for the link to 12 Seahawks Street. We’ve linked to your blog as well.
Revenge is going to be sweet for the Hawks this Saturday. They can roll up more offense in the opening quarter than the Skins did all game (although to your credit, they did win it, and that’s what counts…) Good luck, although I fear you’ll be wiping your eyes with a hanky come Saturday evening.

“Vegas knows where to put these lines to fit public perception.”
High lines are used to make the public bet on the underdog to cover… Vegas thinks this is a blowout and betting on Washington to cover is a sucker bet. Although I may be biased! I’m from 12SS.
“sadly they cheer for a team that hasn’t won a playoff game since 1984″
I take exception to that, not to the fact, but to the sadly. At least we’re good fans. And I’m not saying you aren’t, or that your teams fans aren’t, they are actually great, they sell out that big stadium, even on down years. But being on a broken bandwagon for years and sticking with it I think is admirable. So I admire me.
Springs will play. Most of us still like him, too bad for us he was always hurt here, thats the way it is with DBs from Seattle…
Thanks for the opportunity to check out the other side, its appreciated. Good luck.

I don’t have any hate for the Seahawks. If the Skins weren’t involved I’d probably be rooting for them in the NFC. If Brunell plays like he has the last 2 weeks, we don’t have much of a hope. Obviously I’m banking on him getting back on track. That said, our defense gives up a chance no matter what happens.
As for the sadly comment, it was meant in jest. Redskins fans know what its like to cheer for an unsucessful team. Since Gibbs left in 1992, until this year we went to the playoffs once. Heck both of us even had to suffer through our high QB picks of the 90s (Mirer vs Schuler).

Frankly, I am a lot more worried about playing a team like Carolina than Seattle. Aside from the fact that the ‘Skins already beat them once, the Capital Defense is so strong right now, even with the injury to Wynn, that all we need is one or two Brunell-to-Moss bombs and a decent game from Clinton and we will win, even in their stadium. Same thing with Bears. It’s Carolina that looks really scary. Their team is so similar to ours and we have had a lot more injuries. Hopefully I’m right about Seattle and we can get geared up for an East Coast NFC Title fight. Gives me goosebumps, but I don’t mind.
All the best from Southwest DC!

Manduck, I have to say, you are seriously underestimating the Seahawks offense. If you think it will be as simple as “all we need is one or two Brunell-to-Moss bombs and a decent game from Clinton and we will win, even in their stadium,” more power to you. Opinions are like noses, I guess.
