No Hall for Monk, Superbowl Pick

The results are in and once again its not good news for Art Monk. Six others were selected including Troy Aikman and Reggie White. To be dead honest it’s not really a huge surprise for me. With Aikman, White and John Madden being up for election, Monk was a long shot this year. The election of Warren Moon bodes well for Monk’s case, as it shows you can’t just ignore players who put up numbers.

2007 should be Monk’s year. After a quick gander online only Bruce Matthews appears to have a shot out of the new candidates. I think Monk’s support will continue to grow and he’ll get in. So I wouldn’t despair, Monk’s time will come.

My only advice to the pro-Monk crowd is to quit with the email campaigns and petition lists. Sending 1000 emails saying “Vote Monk” or the like isn’t going to change anyone’s mind. If you have something intelligent to say and need to let the voters know than send an email. But if 95% of the emails are pointless, the 5% that have something important to say may get missed.

Super Bowl Pick

Everyone else is doing one, so why not. To be honest, I think this game goes one of two ways. Either Pittsburgh exposes Seattle and the NFC as weak and smokes the Seahawks or we’ll see a tight game that could go either way.

I keep thinking back to the Chicago-Pittsburgh game late in the season. Pittsburgh just smacked the Bears in the mouth and easily won the game. I see the same sort of deal here. Pittsburgh went through 3 good teams to get here. They are battle tested and I think they will out muscle Seattle. The AFC dominance continues.
