The Redskin Report Mock Draft v1.0
To be honest, I don’t really watch college football. I catch a game here or there and watch the bigger bowl games but I really don’t know much about these draft prospects outside of the top 5 players. So I figured I had two options when it came to draft coverage:
(1)I could do what everyone else with a website does: take Mel Kiper’s big board, mix up the players a bit and have my own mock draft or
(2)I could analyze some of these mock drafts and try to gather a consenus and then rank out the players that way.
In case you couldn’t guess I chose the latter. I randomly picked 12 mock drafts available online, averaged out the ranks, added a few stats (most common rank, best ranking and worst ranking) and came up with a mock draft that combines opinions from all over the web:
1. Reggie Bush (1.0, Most Common 1, Best 1, Worst 1)
2. Matt Leinart (2.1, Most Common 2, Best 2, Worst 3)
3. Vince Young (3.0, Most Common 3, Best 2, Worst 4)
4. D’Brickshaw Ferguson (4.4, Common 4, Best 3, Worst 8 )
5. Mario Williams (5.3, Common 5, Best 5, Worst 6)
6. A.J. Hawk (6.6, Common 6, Best 5, Worst 11)
7. Haloti Ngata (8.1, Common 8, Best 6, Worst 12)
8. DeAngelo Williams (11.8, Common 10, Best 5, Worst 17)
9. Jay Cutler (12.3, Common 16, Best 4, Worst 16)
10. Tamba Hali (12.4, Common 15, Best 9, Worst 15)
11. Jimmy Williams (12.8, Common 11, Best 7, Worst 25)
12. Chad Greenway (13.1, Common 12, Best 7, Worst 21)
13. Winston Justice (13.2, Common 16, Best 9, Worst 19)
14. Michael Huff (13.3, Common 7, Best 7, Worst Off)
15. LenDale White (13.5, Common 10, Best 10, Worst 27)
16. Vernon White (16.7, Common 11, Best 7, Worst 26)
17. Mathias Kiwanuka (17.7, Common 15, Best 9, Worst off)
18. Santonio Holmes (18.3, Common 18, Best 14, Worst 22)
19. Demeco Ryans (21.9, Common 21, Best 7, Worst off)
20. Laurence Maroney (23.3, Common 21,Best 10, Worst 30)
21. Tye Hill (24.5, Common 28, Best 15, Worst off)
22. Marcus McNeil (24.5, Common 18, Best 18, Worst off)
23. Ashton Youboty (25.8, Common 25, Best 19, Worst off)
24. Eric Winston (26.2, Common 19, Best 18, Worst off)
25. Leonard Pope (27.3, Common 26, Best 22, Worst off)
26. Ernie Sims (27.8, Common 30, Best 14, Worst off)
27. Chad Jackson (27.9, Common 29, Best 20, Worst off)
28. Ko Simpson (28.5, Common 19, Best 18, Worst off)
29. Marcedes Lewis (28.8, Common 26, Best 24, Worst off)
30. Broderick Bunkley (29.1, Common 20,Best 20,Worst off)
31. Bobby Carpenter (29.8, Common 25, Best 21,Worst off)
32. Sinorice Moss (31.3, Common 31, Best 27, Worst off)
The top 6 players are the same in nearly every mock draft. After Ngata, most players have large ranges of where they rank. Jay Culter is an interesting one to look at, most mocks have him dropping to Miami at 16, but he ends up in the top 10 overall because of a few top 5 ranks. Micheal Huff is nearly always picked in the top 12, except for one mock draft that had him going in round 2. Vernon Davis is all over the board from 7 to 26.
So what’s the lesson here? After the top 6 picks, no one knows what’s going to happen. And for those of you looking for Redskins content, I’ll look at some of the Redskins draft options in a later update.
