[...] Despite their fan’s insistence that all was well, their offensive line still stinks. You may have missed it a few weeks back when a Cowboy fan told me I was idiot and their offensive line was much improved. But after week one, I’m feeling pretty ok with my assessment. The Cowboys gave up two sacks against Jacksonville and looked pretty weak most of the game. [...]

I have to agree with Lee on the line problems, and feel the need to add this:

What team drafts or brings in so many new OL additions if they don't feel like they have significant issues on the OL?

While I'm not sure I'm willing to say 6-10 for Dallas like Lee, I'd have to say that I would be VERY surprised if even Parcells (who, while I dislike, I have to admit is one heck of a coach) can bring this team to the Superbowl... and I think that might be why he signed TO. He get's one last chance to grab the ring... and so (as the Washington Post put it) he and the Cowboys are "All In"... he retires after the season, and someone else picks through the wreckage if they fail, and starts the rebuilding process in earnest. To be honest, they should be rebuilding NOW for a run a '08 run, not trying to win it all in '06.

I don't know the Redskins are going to be "Super" (especially after the preseason).... but I'd be surprised if Dallas is higher in the standings at the end of the year. My gut tells me Washington could be anywhere from 12-4 to 7-9, median of 10. The Giants could be from 11-5 to 8-8, median of 9.5. Dallas could be from 10-6 to 6-10 median of 8.5, same as the Eagles except the Eagles are median 8 (I'd say Dallas is a bit more likely to finish higher than the Eagles, but the numbers at the edges are the same... just a different curve). Median of course is the most probable area of number of wins... but since it's whole numbers only.... you get the picture.

At any rate, we'll see in 17 weeks or so... care to revisit this then, instead of huffing and puffing and calling names DC Dust? I'll even accept an "I told you so" at that point.

I doubt you'll be here to RECEIVE one. As the theme song goes to start the TV show "Monk", "I could be wrong. But I don't think so. It's a jungle out there."

LOL! I can't believe I missed this yesterday... Looks like cowboys fans are a bit sensitive. Injuries aside, the cowboy’s line is the reason for a non existent running game… coupled with the fact that last year the Texans were the only team to allow more sacks than the cowboys. And, I'm sure the absence of Larry Allen won't hurt either. In fact, the more I think about it, I bet stupid people stop you on the street and say "God Dam'n you're stupid!" ... because if you stopped a 1/2 second and thought about it, you could answer your own question. What kind of offensive line allows 1 player to get 4 sacks in one game? Answer: A bad offensive line. Injuries aside and uninspiring free agent moves won't fix what's broke. I just can't wait until the self proclaimed beacon of NFC EAST knowledge, looks in the mirror and realizes his beloved, over hyped team, is a last place disappointment in the NFC East... next stop TO's melt downs, and Parcells retirement.

'Experienced and solid' Rob Petiti? The guy was a 6th round draft pick last year and he was about as below average as you can get in a starting offensive line. As for all these new additions, you'll have to forgive me for not getting excited about a team starting a guy who couldn't seal up a full time starting job with Detroit and a guy who was released by the Bears after one game last year.

And hey, leave Pluto out of this. :)

re: What kind of offensive line allows Phillip Daniels to get four sacks in a game? Answer me this: Who was Daniels lining up against that game? Do you see that player on the Cowboys roster today? Do you believe Flozell Adams' absence may have had anything to do with it? Do you think perhaps that Dallas' new OL additions (Kosier, Fabini, Colombo, McQuistan, Procter) beating out an unspectacular, but experienced and solid, Petiti for a roster spot is at all indicative? Do you even know who Colombo is? Your so-called reporting has all indications of spending a "Big Brother All-Stars" commercial-break researching the Redskins formidable NFC East opponents, and all the value of a "Save Pluto Now!" t-shirt. Highly irresponsible and downright offensive reporting to thousands of fans who actually follow the division. I'm sure there's a good Tiger Woods story you can go chase down. Leave the NFL reporting to those who actually care.
