To summarize the game in one sentence: Jason Campbell looked pretty good and the defense is embarrassingly bad.
Honestly there is much more to say than that. Campbell made a bunch of good plays, and if Brandon Lloyd could make a tough catch or two, his number’s would be even prettier. I honestly don’t know what else to say about the defense, they suck, they’ve sucked all year and they’ll probably suck for the rest of the year. Why? Who the hell knows? But having a terrible defense really sucks the life out of a team.
We’ll try to look at what’s going on with the defense later on this week. At least Campbell gives us a reason to bother watching for the rest of the year.
UPDATE: I left out the fact that I want to punch Bill Maas in the face. Damn, that guy makes watching a game unbearable. Mike Alstott should hire him as a PR guy.
What do we do now.. play for pride?
And this was the year I was going to get a plasma TV to watch them… guess I’ll hold off
I guess so, it’d be nice to play the spoiler in a few games, but with this defense I doubt it’ll happen. Jason Campbell is about the only reason to watch right now.
that bill maas got to me too.
i think the coaches need to start teaching the basics and get ready for next year. play the people who going to be there, so they can jell and stop picking up so many different people stick with what you got.
I have a feeling we will see departures of a few, but most new players next year are going to be either draft picks, or VERY cheap free agents; don’t expect anyone new to be over 2x the veteran minimum, as the Skins don’t have salary cap space if they get rid of Archuleta and Carter. I still think Lloyd has a future on the team.
I don’t think carter is going anywhere, he seems to be doing an acceptable job. As for archuleta, while he will still technically be a redskin, it will only be because we gain more from keeping him for an additional year rather than dumping him now (from what i understand about our cap situation from tandler); too bad we didnt throw that money clark’s way in the first place.
As for our wide receivers, i dont see any big big moves; possibly DP returning to new england where he can ride the wave of the past because this guy has done absolutely nothing but take up a roster spot. Lloyd is sticking around, he looked like he has been building a good rapport with campbell, although that could be deceiving seeing as how he was the only top-tier receiver we had on the field.
Brunnell would probably accept a pay cut at this point to stay on the team; I’m not CONVINCED that Brunnell couldn’t even be a good back up quarterback for the Redskins, and if he’s willing to redo his cap figure to get us (partially) out of the cap problem, then he not only COULD come back, he probably will.
That’s not to mean he’ll start. He probably shouldn’t, unless Cambell gets hurt. Cambell is in the midst of a (possible) 19 game audition to be a starting QB in the NFL. We’ll know by this point next year.

Hey guess who leads the NFL in interceptions, Walt Harris, why did we let him go, stupid. Rogers cant cover me. Their personel moves are horrible. Gibbs sucks as a GM, remember Desmond Howard.
[...] Redskins fans have had an simmering feud with Fox broadcaster Bill Maas for sometime. He’s a horrible horrible announcer, who’s managed to keep his job for years for reasons unknown to any sane person. Happily in recent years Maas has been demoted to about the 10th string announce crew, otherwise known as the official crew of the Arizona Cardinals. With the Redskins sucking the big one last year, we were subject to a few Maas sightings which were enough to stir up the old hatred. [...]
