Any hope of a miracle winning streak to the end the year were put to an end with today’s 24-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The same old flaws that killed the Redskins all year, came back to haunt them again this week. A flimsy defense that can’t stop the run and uneven QB play doomed the Redskins in the loss.
Jason Campbell had his worst start as a pro. He look flustered after having so many of his passes batted down. He was off on quite a few of his passes and just wasn’t at his best. The offensive line had a few blips against the Atlanta pass rush as well, but had their best rush blocking game of the year, leading Ladell Betts to a career game.
Defensively, the Redskins started out well, but faded as the game went on. Michael Vick got into their heads and they got out of their lanes and gave up a backbreaking TD run in the 4th quarter. You aren’t going to win many games when you give up over 200 yards rushing.
Its back to the draft boards for Redskins fans.
First bloggette to reach the site to reply. I wanna cry. First quarter, I thought, figured… bet even that the Redskins had decided they would be… well Redskins. Slam the ball up the field, make plays, wow.
Then came the trickery. 3 and out.. and we lost momentum after that. Ladell, you made the game guy. You run behind blockers better than Portis thats for sure.
Remember when they used to throw it to the side, and Gary Clark would do that littl ” fake to the side line spin in and go for another 10 to 12 yards?
finally the idea of playoffs is dead.time to write out the pink slips and start over.how about a new gm that can pick talent not ego
The worst thing of all???
Except for Atlanta, everyone the Redskins WANTED to lose for their “playoff” chances DID lose. But now, being two games behind Atlanta, and potentially two behind Carolina, kills us.
8-8 Could STILL have gotten us in… if the loss was to the Saints. We won’t be OFFICIALLY elimnated until next week, I think (even if we win, we’re eliminated I believe if Carolina wins tonight and next week, and Atlanta wins next week, regardless of anything else, I believe… don’t they play each other in two weeks?). But OFFICIALLY eliminated and ELIMINATED are the same, here… we’re out, as of that interception late in the third quarter, that gave Atlanta the ball on our 25.
Being a Redskins Fan is like being married to a woman for 20 years, and then finding out that she’s been cheating throughout the entire marriage, and then finding out that she has AIDS.
we’re done
no insight from me here. I’m disgusted. What is Joe’s record now. I don’t even see hope for the future. 10-6 last year and a playoff win- then came the coaches ego’s, bad personnel moves, our way or the highway attitude, we did it to Lavar and Coles and we can do it to you, coaches attitude vs player talents, trading picks, sitting first rounders, senseless free agens splurging, loss of respect around the league. I truly hate it and wonder why we all have to go through this sh_t.
new QB, Red pants, Archuleta on the bench and still losing. I now have to blame the play calling. Not nearly enough long passes. Campbell reminds me of Rypien, drop back and throw to spots down the field. Forget the dink, dunk, reverse to Randle El, and the roll out to the tight end. Mix the counter trey, sweeps and pass the dam ball down the field! All this obvious advice without spending 2 million dollars.
Dave,
Apply for the GM job, oh you have to do other things like pick talent. Think you could find us a kicker? Can’t Mark Mosely still make a few? Who took his job by the way?
In Mosely’s last few years he was awful, kicking 67% and then 50% of his FGs. Then we went through a billion kickers (Max Zendejas, Ali Haij-Shiehk) before they finally found Chip Lohmiller. The Redskins have had some real cruddy kickers.
One good thing the Redskins did do against the Falcons was almost no penalties! I can’t remember the last time they hadn’t committed almost 0 penalties in a game. Hopefully, that will carry over vs. philly.
