I still haven’t heard from J.Roberts, the pick-em contest winner. Shoot me an e-mail so we can get your prize off.
I’ve been slacking the past few days, so here’s a quick summary of what’s been happening in Redskin land of late:
- Art Monk and Russ Grimm were among the finalists for this year’s NFL Hall of Fame nominees. I will be updated last year’s Art Monk series as we get closer to the vote (you can read it here in the meantime)
- Everyone’s favorite QB Mark Brunell had surgery to repair a damage labrum in his left shoulder earlier this week.
Slow news week, huh. The previously mentioned player report cards will begin on Monday and go for about 2 weeks.

Hey, if J.Roberts doesn’t claim it, I’ll take it as… um… runner-up, yeah, that’s the ticket! Problem is that out of the five of us who finished, I came in fifth….. 11 games off the pace (one game behind you). So I guess you’d have to go with W.Want.Dallas as the runner-up (I don’t believe I ever gained ground on him after that disastrous mid season… even when I captured weekly honors). I’m still shocked that the early front runners dropped when they did, as they were still well in the running (even I was, until the last five weeks, and if I’d finished better than 11-8-8 the last three weeks, say 13-11-11…)
At any rate, to the REAL article:
Art and Russ both are HOFers; they just need to be inducted. What really hurts though (and is a travesty) is that Russ may get in before Art. I’m hoping they both get in this year.

Hey, if W.Want.Dallas is MIA too, I’m up next! I’ll take it!
By the way, I noticed on the bulletin board over at the pick’em page that J.Roberts seemed to think Bill had organized the pool, since he thanked him for it. He might be a little confused. He (and W.Want.Dallas, just because) should be disqualified! Yeah!
In all seriousness, he may not read the site. Maybe emailing him directly would help?

I didn’t even know there was a bulletin board there (ooops). Thanks for doing those weekly updates Bill.
I’ve tried emailing him as well, he probably just used a junk email to fit that requirement. I seem to recall a poster by the name vivapepe on a Redskins message board, I’ll see if I can find him that way.
I’ll keep everyone posted.

Hmmm, just tried emailing him again and it bounced back. I can’t find anyone on the messages boards with that nickname either. We’ll give him another few days and move down the list.
If anyone knows of Jeff, let him know he’s got a prize waiting if he gets a hold of me.

We could do it by age, with the oldest of the three of us getting it, since he (or she) has presumably the shortest time to live and fewest great Redskin Games remaining before we hit the big couch in the sky… since I probably win that one (I’m wearing my brand new Tri-focals today) I gladly accept ;P
Besides, with a son about to go to College, how can I afford to buy a Jersey? The last time I was able to get more than a Hat (bought at FedEx, Baltimore 17, Washington 10, October 10, 2004, my only Regular Season Redskin game attended, though I caught a Miami-Washington preseason game at Joe Robie in 1993). Most of my stuff is from the Redskin’s last Superbowl victory, 1992.

I always wondered if anyone was reading them (they were much more elaborate, I ended up having to go back and edit them after week 6-7 and summarize anything over a week old… the limit on message size, and only ONE message per person, reeked). I was happy when I was people did!

Doesn’t sound like I’d win the age battle, so I think I’ll have to take my chances with the “We’ll give him another few days and move down the list.” Though if Bill’s wearing trifocals it makes me wonder if I could snag his jersey and make a run for it and maybe he wouldn’t be able to catch me … hehe

At my current age, I’m starting to think you could make a WALK for it and I wouldn’t catch you. My son now calls me “Old Man”. I’m OLDER than the mental image I have of my father, by almost 5 years (though his 71st is tomorrow). But actually, you could be standing in front of me and I might not even be able to see you took the jersey…..
Hmmm… kind of like some of the balls through towards the Redskin’s Corners, I wouldn’t even see it coming….. 8(

Thanks for the mention Bill. Now I just have to figure out a way to get you to write here.
As for a forum, I don’t know. There are already so many well visited Redskins message boards, I’m not sure if there is a need for another one. Then again people will probably be saying that about Redskins blogs soon too, when I started doing this I was one of the very few. Now there are new ones and very good ones popping up all the time.

Although I think I mis-picked about 14 Redskins games this year, I will happily take J. Roberts’ place if he remains MIA.
