Report Card Bonanza: Offense
Mark Brunell
The Good: For all the grief he got, he wasn’t all that bad in 2006. He was accurate and protective of the ball.
The Bad: The lightning rod for the 1st half of the season. Just doesn’t have the arm to keep defenses honest anymore. The master of the 3 yard pass to the running back on 3rd and 6. Probably my least favorite Redskin since Deion Sanders.
Grade: C
Jason Campbell
The Good: Seemed to spark the entire offense when he came aboard. Has the arm that Redskins fans have been wanting in a QB. For a young guy, he has remarkable poise.
The Bad: Very inaccurate. Need to work on his polish in the pocket and on his dropbacks. Long motion may cause troubles.
Grade: B-
Clinton Portis
The Good: Led the team in TDs despite missing half of the year with injuries. The best blocking RB on the Redskins by a long margin.
The Bad: Didn’t seem himself all year long. Complained a lot about his pre-season injury. Didn’t seem as elusive as he used to be. Was it injuries or a decline?
Grade: C+
Ladell Betts
The Good: Better than anyone could have imagined when he finally got his chance to start after Portis’s injury. The best skill player on the team in 2006. Actually signed a decent contract extension with the Redskins, shocking everyone.
The Bad: Fumbles. Fumbles. Fumbles.
Grade: A
Mike Sellers
The Good: Looked good in his few running attempts. A vicious blocker. Both Betts and Portis love running behind the guy which is about all you need to know about a fullback.
The Bad: Wasn’t the red-zone threat he was in 2005.
Grade: B+
Chris Cooley
The Good: Led the team in receptions. Developed instant chemistry with Jason Campbell. The most consistent receiver the Skins have.
The Bad: Seemed to have more drops than ever before. Looked a little unfocused early in the season.
Grade: B
Santana Moss
The Good: One of the best receivers in the league at adjusting to the ball in the air. If he’s in one on one coverage and going deep, he’s going to make a big play. Scored 6 touchdowns.
The Bad: Slowed by injuries during the year. Had a few mini tantrums when Jason Campbell would miss him on certain routes.
Grade: B
Antwaan Randle-El
The Good: Was very dangerous on trick plays. Solid when running the ball.
The Bad: Again, didn’t play up to his contract. Looks like a 3rd receiver instead of a starter. Didn’t break many big plays with his legs.
Grade: C-
Brandon Lloyd
The Good: Made a few nice catches on deep balls.
The Bad: Why exactly did the Skins trade for this guy and then pay him bazillions of dollars? He’s basically a generic fast guy you can draft in any round. Had zero touchdowns and only 23 catches in 2006.
Grade: F
Quick Hits on the o-line:
Chris Samuels: A
Derrick Dockery: B+
Casey Rabach: B+
Randy Thomas: B+
Jon Jansen: C

Hey, lets try and figue out why the O line could cut sacks and “hits” in half when Campbell got in but couldn’t under Brunell. They did a doggone good job for Campbell.
Giving too much credit to Samuels though… B to B + I saw too many guys run right past him.
