Jerry Jones is Awful
While taking a day away from the headlines, the Redskins outlook for next season got a whole lot brighter today. The Cowboys went out and hired Wade Phillips to be their new head coach. Wade Phillips is a lot of things, but a good head coach he is not. Phillips is the new Chan Gailey, a flimsy head coach who will allow owner Jerry Jones to meddle to his heart’s content.
I often read NFL columnists take shots at Daniel Snyder, but rarely do you read any outright negative shots at Jerry Jones. Is there really any doubt that Jones is the most meddlesome owner in the NFL today (well at least if you exclude Al Davis). Jones hired Jason Garrett to be a part of the coaching staff weeks before hiring the head coach. Granted Wade Phillips is a defensive guy, but don’t head coaches get to hire their own staff? Would Joe Gibbs have returned to Washington if Snyder had signed Gregg Williams before him?
Jones spent two years being somewhat muzzled by Bill Parcells. But even a future Hall of Famer like Parcells couldn’t keep Jones from signing Terrell Owens and sticking his nose where it didn’t belong. Without Parcells, this is undoubtably now Jerry Jones’ show and early signs point to a Dallas disaster.
It wasn’t that long ago the NFC East was full of respected NFL coaches. Heading into next season, both Dallas and the Giants have coaches who will be lucky to make it to the 2008 season. Adjust your expectations for the 2007 Dallas Cowboys accordingly.

I might be more excited to watch the upcoming Dallas season than the upcoming Skins one. Wade Phillips and TO? That’s going to be great. The only problem is that Wade Phillips is the kind of coach you wouldn’t feel too bad firing in a year’s time when you want to go after Bill Cowher.

Listen to me now and hear me later, why haven’t the skins made any noise in the off season? Well lets examine it shall we? Giants=joke, a coach the players don’t even want. Philly=Andy’s kids have run a muck, Garcia is going to be bitter and Donavan is on the block….Dallas=joke, how can you hire a offensive coordinator before a head coach….conclusion=the division is ripe for the taking Joe and Joe and (Gibbs and Bugell) know this and we shall overcome .

What was that? Something about Wade Phillips being a poor head coach? Did I actually just read that something Jerry Jones made a poor decision!? You poor unfortunate souls…

P.S. Even if the cowboys lost every single game after week 8, Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett will have done a better job on the sidelines than HOFC Joe Gibbs and Co. in 2006.

Get over your coach’s past and acknowledge his future.
Forgive your owner.
Have faith in the future.
And always rememeber…The Cowboys have 5 Lombardi Trophies.
