There have been a few rumors out online that the Redskins have reached an agreement with CB Fred Smoot. Keep in mind, this isn’t official yet, but I’m PUMPED. I’ll update if and when this goes official.
UPDATE: This is now official. Smoot’s back. I’ll save the generic love boat joke for later.
Also Dockery got a zillion dollars from the Bills 7 years, 49 million, 16m in bonuses. Wow.

I was quite shocked when Fred left the first time, as he was happy here, the Redskins were happy with him, he had a definite and defined role on the team for years to come, most of his closest friends were on the team, and the Redskins were willing to offer up a decent amount of money; couple that with Coach Gibbs reputation, and the fact the Redskins were thought to be improving (and did make it fairly well into the playoffs that season), I was surprised he would leave for Minnesota. The only rational reason for it was it was slightly more money than the Redskins could afford at the time (about $250K-ish per year over the four seasons of his contract). He could have easily made that up in the rise of housing prices in the DC area in the last two years.
I would be surprised at this point, though, if Fred doesn’t finish his career as a Redskin after this; he’s learned the old Wizard of Oz lession “There’s no place like home”.
