Redskins fans have had an simmering feud with Fox broadcaster Bill Maas for sometime. He’s a horrible horrible announcer, who’s managed to keep his job for years for reasons unknown to any sane person. Happily in recent years Maas has been demoted to about the 10th string announce crew, otherwise known as the official crew of the Arizona Cardinals. With the Redskins sucking the big one last year, we were subject to a few Maas sightings which were enough to stir up the old hatred.
But it all might be over soon. Maas and a 27-year old female companion were arrested yesterday and charged with various drug and weapon offenses. According to reports police found “a .22-caliber revolver, 5 grams of suspected marijuana, 6 grams of suspected cocaine and 28 pills of Ecstasy”. Well that might explain why he made no sense half the time during a broadcast.
UPDATE: Fox says that Maas “will not be coming back to Fox in any capacity.”
What an idiot.

I DETESTED Bill Maas. And he always seemed so Anti-Washington, on top the fact that I could do a better job as a color commentator/announcer. Heck, my 7 year old daughter could do a better job.

Bill???? Is that you??? It’s Bill (the same one who’s been around awhile) here… Why are you so upset? This allows you to go back to doing something where the Redskins Fans won’t hate you; you can become, for example, a local sports reporter (they become well beloved, eventually). You could go on to do a Talk Radio show in a local market (ditto). Many new doors open when one closes… just don’t let this one hit you as it closes.
Re #2: It might not be perfect, but I haven’t had any drug or weapon related charges laid on me yet. So I’d say I’m doing alright.

I’m so happy!
I knew Bill personally during his younger years growing up and during his early years of football
and newscasting. He was an upstanding individual, someone we could all look up to!
I hope that he can get his life back on track. His family and friends need him in their life!

Sorry about your troubles Bill. I heard about your short term memory problems etc. However, you are now 46 and you were doing pretty heavy stuff even as a Frosh in College. Mix drugs and hard NFL hits and it’s like a killer cocktail for the brain. Hope you can stay clean and get healthy!
