Reche Caldwell about to Sign? – Now Signed

Jason La Confora is reporting that the Reche Caldwell is at Redskins park today visiting with the brass. Caldwell feels like a deal is likely and could be completed later today. Caldwell is best known for dropping passes like crazy in the AFC playoffs last year, but was decently productive during the season. He had 61 catches and 4 touchdowns last year. He also caught 60% of the passes thrown his way during the season, which is better than all Redskins receivers had in 2006. He was initially a 2nd round pick of San Diego. Caldwell isn’t great, but he’ll be a better number 3 option than Brandon Lloyd if signed.

UPDATE: Caldwell has signed a 1 year deal. Jon Jansen was put on IR to make room for him so as of this moment the Redskins have 6 receivers signed. Caldwell will be in town for practice on Thursday (the Redskins don’t play until Monday night, so they are getting an extra day’s rest), but its still unlikely he’d see any playing time this week.
