In an effort to fill the hole caused by Randy Thomas’ injury, the Redskins signed veteran offensive lineman Rick Demulling. Demulling is a former Detroit Lion and Indianapolis Colt who’s career has fizzled over the past few years. Demulling started 41 games with the Colts before leaving as a free agent to sign with the Detroit Lions two years ago. He had rejoined the Colts over the off-season and was released during training camp.
To make move on the roster the Redskins released wide receiver Shaun Bodiford.
Veteran Minimum for one year, ~$630K of the ~$2M cap left; we can afford just two more hiccups like that (although of course we recoup a couple hundred $K from Bodiford’s projected salary Cap).
Most coaches try to save a cushion of $1.5~2M for emergency in season replacements. The big questionn is if we DO have left over money at the end of the season, how do we use it? Part of a bonus to Sean Taylor to sign an extension? Part of the hit to release Brandon Lloyd this coming offseason (let’s face it, unless something REALLY changes, he is gone next year)?
