Some random thoughts about the football action from the Redskins week off:
- Sigh. Effin Cowboys. When do the Redskins get to play the Rams? Oh… and they play Buffalo next. Frig.
- Have to admit I’m content with the result of the Eagles-Giants game. Yes, the Giants hold a tiebreaker edge over the Redskins right now, but in the long run I’m more concerned about Philadelphia than the Giants. The one thing that game showed is that the Eagles really, really need Brian Westbrook to stay healthy.
- I coulda swore the Eagles offensive line was supposed to be good. TWELVE SACKS!!!! Osi Umenyoira with six all by himself. That’s one hell of a performance right there.
- I obviously have underestimated the power of Norvitis. How can the Chargers be 0-3 and losing at home to Kansas City. Just embarrassing.
- Nice little revenge showing by the Cardinals coaching staff in pulling out that victory over Pittsburgh. Fitzgerald was a force out there and the Steelers just couldn’t get going. The Steelers are running Willie Parker into the ground and with his size, I’d look for him to fade as the season wears on.
- Don’t tell anyone but Joey Harrington has played two good games in a row and the Falcons might not be the laughing stock we all expected this year.
- Browns over the Ravens, really didn’t expect that one. Steve McNair throwing 53 times in a game, REALLY didn’t expect that.
- I hope that everyone tunes into Monday Night Football tonight for a chance to pay respect to the GREATEST TEAM OF OUR TIME the New England Patriots. The Bengals should feel great shame even thinking they belong on the field with the MIGHTY Pats. Patriots by 90. Ok, I’m a little annoyed by the media coverage of the Patriots.
- This week’s game is almost a do-over for the Redskins coaching staff. The Lions are going to score points against the Redskins defense. Sitting on 17 points isn’t going to get it done. Joe Gibbs and Al Saunders are going to need to shoot for 30 points this week. Take off the training wheels guys. Let’s score some damn points.
forget the media coverage of the patriots!!! what about the constant media blitz coverage for the our arch enemy the cowboys? The are media darlings even if they have a good season ,as this year, or if they have bad year the coverage doesnt change its sickenning!!!!
Ah, let the Cowboys have their coverage; it doesn’t hurt or help the Redskins, and maybe, just maybe, it puts a big old bullseye on their back, costing them a game or two (hopefully, against the Redskins).
I’m more concerned with THIS weeks game than what the Cowboys are doing; safe to say the Pokes will be undefeated until they meet up with the Pats. So let’s talk Lions/Redskins…
I have to think the Lions will be slightly down this week; their victory over the Bears is one of those emotion sappers because you can’t stay sky high forever; the let down has to come. I can easily see this game get out of hand; the question is, which team will be on the stomper, and which on the stompee side? If I had to make a guess, I would say this game is going to not be close, but I can see the Lions blowing us out, or us blowing them out. But hey, I figured the 49ers would win a laugher this week, too, and was saying just earlier in the afternoon that the three best teams in the league this year were the Pats, Colts, and then the Steelers, and on any given Sunday, those were safe picks against anyone in the NFC except MAYBE the Cowboys… and then the Cardinals have to go and beat the (wo)Man of Kleenex (hey, props to who ever gets that reference, even if I give a clue and say “Pak”, so long as you don’t use Google).
I’m with you Kurt on the Cowboys coverage, but I’ll wait until they play a team that can actually win a game before I start ranting on them, sadly Buffalo isn’t that team.
And I have no idea what Bill is talking about with that Kleenex stuff.
Lee, the reason I said “No Google” is because if you put in “Woman of Kleenix” you’ll get the reference as hit number 1.
Might actually be more obscure with the hint of “Pak”, but SOMEONE had to build Halo, er, Ringworld.
