Redskins Drop Potential Victory

Really not much to say about that game. The Redskins should have won it but they couldn’t hold onto the ball to save their lives. Tough loss and it makes next week game against Arizona very important.

Positives

  • Jason Campbell - He continues to make strides. His completion numbers don’t look that impressive but when you consider the 5 or 6 drops, it could have been a huge day for Campbell.
  • Secondary - Favre and the Packers were chucking it all over the field and besides one long pass to Donald Lee they were up to the task. Sean Taylor could have 4 or 5 interceptions if he had better hands but two picks will do most weeks. I’m sure opposing offensive coordinators are going to be looking at throwing away from Taylor as the year goes on (no more laterals though please).
  • Chris Wilson - Ex-CFLer gets his 1st career sack.

Negatives

  • Drops - Santana Moss has had issues all year with drops. Whatever the deal is, it needs to be worked out immediately. I know Moss felt terrible and pulled himself out of the game, but he’s paid to be better than that. I can’t help but think back to the off-season when Jason Campbell wanted to go visit with Moss and throw the ball but ‘they couldn’t find time’. Moss should’ve made time.
  • Injuries - For most of the 2nd half the Redskins had one offensive lineman that they thought would start at the on-set of training camp on the field. There has been no updates yet on the condition of Rabach, Wade or Heyer, but the Redskins clearly need Rabach and one of the tackles back quickly or they are going to be pulling guys off the street to suit up next week.
  • Running Game - Obviously all the injuries don’t help, but the Redskins need to run better than they have these past few weeks. Campbell is looking very good, but a strong running support is going to make his job much easier.
