Pigskin Pick’em Week 16 Results
Hello again, Pigskin Pick’em Players, and welcome to Week 16s results. I’m sorry this is a tad late getting up, but with it being Christmas day and all, I figure that you’ll forgive me this once. This coming game is the last of the (regular?) season for our beloved Redskins; if they win, they are in the playoffs. Lose, and they are PROBABLY out. Of course, this week’s inspiring victory over Minnesota in the Metrodome was the biggest news of the week, but the Saints loss to Philly put us, once again, back in the driver’s seat for a playoff berth. Say what you will about Coach Gibbs’ ability this go around, but during his dozen years out, we went to the playoffs ONCE. In the four years he’s been back, we’ve been to the playoffs ONCE, and we’ll make it TWICE if we win at home against the Cowboys this week. As for the Pigskin Pick’em, most players did quite well; even the folks who have “given up” on playing eked out 11 wins, though play or not, there wasn’t more than a few games difference between the players. There’s still one more week to go, though, so try to get up over 160 points, guys!
Weekly Kudos this week go to S K and M. Chesser, with a very nice 13 of 16. Good work guys! S K, as folks will recall, scored a perfect 16 two weeks ago, and was only one off the pace at the top last week; if he’d picked as well in the early part of the season, he would have easily been one of the top players. I think we may need to keep an eye out for him in ‘08!
Upset Pick of the Week Kudos go to M. Chesser, R. F., M. Edmonds, and S. Michael Young for not going with their hearts, but with their heads, and picking the Giants over the Bills; as Redskins fans, that would have made the weekend’s games perfect if the Bills had won, as it would have left the possibility of Washington being not the 6th seed, but the 5th seed, if New York loses to New England and Washington beats Dallas this weekend. A lot of us projected what we WISHED, and not what we thought; I know I did, and it burned me when I revisited my picks and made that change (as well as revisiting the Saints-Eagles game, and also missing that pick, by going with my head instead of my heart).
Season Props of course continue to go to A. Fishman, but most folks probably figured that. He kept pace with the #2 guy, with a 4 game lead, and gained a game over the #3 player, clicking up 7 games. I hate to say it, but I think there’s a rotund female wearing a horned helmet on stage with her arm outstretched and her mouth open; I’m not hearing MUSIC yet, but you get the gist. It would take a truly awful performance, or a poor performance and an outstanding one, for anyone to pass Mr. Fishman this week, and the game ends with the playoffs.
Here’s the full standings for the week:
| A. Fishman | 165 |
| W. Ward | 161 |

Too bad I forgot to make my picks until after the first two games of the week were done.

Um, so, I’m a “she”

Oh. Oh…… sorry S K. I just assumed most of the players were guys.
I mean, my SON is in the list, as well as me… but my wife isn’t playing (even though she’s told me I only get to wear the jersey ONCE if I win, for the picture that Lee will put up… after that, it’s hers).
Of course, I won’t win…. I’ll end up the season coming in second. But it’s not whether you win or lose, it’s whether you did your best, right?
But in all fairness, I can’t write easily talking about your accomplishments without saying he or she… so I made the executive decision that everyone’s a “He”.
But then, for all I know, you might be Karen, my daughter’s dance instructor… she’s probably the only person I know more rabid of a Redskins fan than I, but then, she WAS a Redskin… or at least, a Head Cheerleader of the Redskinettes (and Bullets/Wizards, but that’s a different story).

It was a reasonable assumption to make. No worries! I just figured I’d clear it up.
