Todd Collins: NFC Offensive Player of the Month
Jump to Comments
Yeah, who saw this coming? Honestly, the story of Todd Collins is becoming more and more of an after school tv special each week. To grind it out on the sidelines for ten years and then finally get your shot and play like this, well its quite inspiring. Collins was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for December today by the NFL.
Collins completed 63.8% of his passes for 888 yards with 5 touchdowns and no interceptions in the month. His quarterback rating was a stellar 106.4 for the month. He was named the NFC player of the week despite missing the 1st game of the month (vs Buffalo).

You know, if the Redskins somehow DO make it to the big game, I really could see this season being made into a mini-series or movie in 10-20 years on ESPN. It’s got “The Evil Empire” in the background (and center stage at least once), it’s got pathos (Shawn Springs’ situation), it’s got tradgedy (Sean Taylor’s loss), adversity, “comebacks”, personal redemption (Gibb’s 12th Viking of Christmas call, after the Buffalo Bombing), heart warming determination (Clinton Portis’s and Santana Moss’s determination to win for Sean), hubris (the Redskins in the days before the first Giants game), injury, defeat, victory, triumph. It’s even got “Space Cowboyisms” in the archaic throwback of Todd Collins. They wouldn’t have to even have much game footage to make it a good story; it just needs a Cinderella or near Cinderella ending. They don’t even have to win it all this year; they can end it with “The Redskins went on to win it all the following year”, and it still works.
