Monk, Green, Grimm - Canton Bound?
The NFL has announced the Final list of candidates for the Pro Football Hall of Fame for 2008, and among the fifteen were Art Monk, Darrell Green, and Russ Grimm (along with 12 other potential candidates, including Former Redskin Andre Carter). Four to seven of the 15 will be elected. In all, Washington dominates the candidates this year, though that hasn’t meant a lot of success in the past for the Redskins, though this year’s class will almost certainly lead to at least one of the three being elected, as it’s particularly weak, Richard Dent, Paul Tagliabue, Gary Zimmerman, and Derrick Thomas being the biggest of the names on the list otherwise, at least in my opinion. It would be quite a feather to have all three go (not unreasonable given the competition this year), but more realistic would be to see Monk and Green elected. Green is probably a shoe-in, but what do I know, I think Monk should have been a first ballot HOFer. This will be Darrell’s first time of eligibility.
