Apparently I don’t have the pull I thought with the Redskins. It is being reported that the Redskins are expected to name ex-Giant coach Jim Fassel as the new head coach. The announcement could come as soon as tomorrow. The Redskins will also be bringing in Jim Zorn (formerly the Seahawks QB coach) to become the offensive coordinator and are negotiating with the Ravens to bring in Rex Ryan (currently the Ravens DC, up for a few head coaching gigs) as the new defensive coordinator. The Ravens do not have to allow Ryan out of his contract to come to Washington, so there may end up being some compensation bring him here. Ryan is thought to be a leading candidate for the Falcons job, I’d assume he’d be turning that down if he was to join the Redskins.

UPDATE: OK, the Redskins and NFL sources are saying Fassel has not been offered the job and saying no decision has been made. Gregg Williams is still in the running and they may wait until after the Super Bowl to interview people from the Giants and Patriots. Snyder isn’t letting much info out, so the media seems to be grasping at straws here. Who knows?
At this point, REGARDLESS of who is chosen, we, the fans of the Redskins, lose. The loss of goodwill and purpose, the loss of a sense of TEAM and FAMILY, is now gone. We’re going to be right back where we were years ago, with people coming to the team in a revolving door fashion.
Thanks a lot, Dan, for hosing the team. If you weren’t sure about Williams, you could have at least just given him a single year to see if the house that Joe built for you was going to be sturdy. Right now, we’re back to being a 6-10 team, because of the demoralization that you have caused.
I’ve never been anti-Snyder… until the last week and a half, when he didn’t make the right choice, right away, and hire Williams as the HC. And now that he’s looking at gutting a team, he’s putting us another four years out from being a possible contender. And we’ll see every player that can jump ship as soon as he can for somewhere with a less toxic environment. Danny, you’ve truly done it: You’ve made us the laughingstock of the league, and I now have more confidence in the Cardinals than I do in the Redskins top management and ownership.
I’ve missed the posts on here this year. I’ve always thought we have had some intelligent fans. Now it appears that any fan we have will be more intelligent than the owner. Never have I seen a situation that was as cut and dry end up so maligned that it warrants questioning my alliance to the “New” Redskins. Dan Snyder is not a good owner, front office person, or intouch with his team or fan base. While he may have decision powers with the Redskins, I’ve got more power than he could possibly imagine. I can choose to walk away.
And thank you, no, Joe. You restored some hope and decency up there for a short time. But even you cannot get out from under the money factor and call a spade a spade. Good luck in racing.
Jim Fassel, he was such a winner with the Giants and we are going after a RAVENS defensive genius? How about some home grown boys that are in place and have proven they CAN do the job. Good luck Redskins, I’ll root for you, but can only smile at Danny boy if we only win 5 next year.
