Gregg Williams quits, withdraws from Head Coach search.

I can’t make this stuff up, folks; it’s too close to the plot-line of a Three Stooges movie.

The Washington Post is reporting and the official Redskin Team website is confirming that Gregg Williams and Team IdiotOwner Daniel Snyder have “decided to part ways” as of this morning.  Also released this morning was Al Saunders.  While obviously not necessarily the final word, Greg Blache has been promoted to Defensive Coordinator; we’ve already reported that Jim Zorn was hired as the new Offensive Coordinator.

As a requisite editorial, it now seems obvious that Snyder has a particular person in mind as the next head coach; it’s doubtful that he will be able to hire anyone truly competent for the position at this point, since even Fassel, widely rejected by Redskin Nation, is now being reported to be considering withdrawing after the last two weeks fiasco.  With no talent left in the coaching ranks who would consider the Redskins position, Snyder is intending to follow in the hallowed footsteps of Jim Brown and George Halas and personally coach the team.  If it’s any consolation, we can look forward, in that case, to watching some other team use our first round draft pick in 2009 for the first selection in the draft.  Too bad the “Brain Trust” is overdrawn at the moment since Coach Gibbs abrupt resignation just a few short weeks ago; if we had won against Seattle, we could potentially have still been playing.  As it is, now only Daniel Snyder and Vinny Cerrato are playing.

BallHype: hype it up!

  • I just realized we don’t have author tags on any posts. This was written by Bill and the one before or after this is by me. I’ll get the author tags added so it doesn’t look like we are writing on the exact same story twice.

Nice comment on Snyder and Cerrato. I’ve always been a defender of the guy, but this search has gone about as a bad as possible. For some reason, they are acting like we are a 3-13 team instead of a playoff team. At this point I’d like to see Schwartz or the Giants DC hired, but I get the feeling we’re going to be seeing Fassel on the podium a few days after the Super Bowl.

  • Ok fixed. All posts are now marked with the author in the date line.
