Spagnuolo to Interview, Another Assistant Signed
A few tidbits of news have snuck out today courtesy of the Washington Post’s Redskins Insider Blog:
Steve Spagnuolo is due in town after the Giants Super Bowl parade and will have a formal interview tomorrow. He has talked with Snyder and appears to have some interest in the job. He’s the hot candidate right now and knowing Snyder’s past, I’d suspect he’s the favorite assuming he doesn’t flub the interview.
Would it not be a classic Snyder move if Spagnuolo wants the job but only if he can bring in his own defensive crew and Snyder ends up firing Blache just a few weeks after promoting him. Blache would end up getting paid for a job he never had to do. And would you really be all that surprised if exactly that happened here?
In other news, Earnest Byner has been re-signed as running back coach. This leaves only Bill Lazor and Bob Saunders as unsigned, but neither is expected back. New OC Jim Zorn will also work with the QBs and Bob Saunders is Al’s son, so likely headed to St. Louis. So essentially the entire coaching staff is in place, minus that tiny little head coaching position.
There is also a press conference today at Redskin Park with Art Monk and Darrell Green regarding their induction to the Hall of Fame.
