Redskins Mock Draft Summary
Well, this free agent stuff is boring, so let’s turn our attention to the draft. Here’s a summary of who the major mock draft’s have the Redskins taking in the 1st round:
Calais Campbell, DE, Miami
Redskins coach Jim Zorn and recently promoted Executive Vice President Vinny Cerrato are expected to rely heavily on their scouting department and position coaches for assistance in their first draft together. New defensive line coach John Palermo, hired from the same position from the University of Miami, could persuade the selection of the 6-8, 290-pound Campbell
James Hardy, WR, Indiana
The Redskins have to improve their pass rush. Getting pressure on the QB is a must, but the top DEs are off the board and that will have to wait until the second round. So Washington will look to improve their offense and add a playmaking wide receiver. Indiana’s James Hardy gives the Redskins a big WR who will compliment Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El.
Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma
The Redskins have tried to go the small-receiver route without much success. Kelly is 6-4, 215 pounds and scouts rave about his fluid moves and the strength and reliability of his hands. If Washington doesn’t go for a receiver in Kelly or Sweed, Campbell or Otah would fill first-round worthy needs.
Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan State
The Redskins’ top priority is adding a playmaking receiver to the roster. There projects to be a run of wide receivers in the bottom half of the first round, so the Redskins should get involved here before they get shut out. Thomas might not have the ideal size Washington is looking for, but he’s a well-built wide out with strong hands and excellent run-after-catch ability.
So who do you like?
