Redskins Mock Draft Summary 2.0
It’s been a few weeks since we last looked at the mock drafts, so its time for an update. Plus this is about the simplest article to write for me and everyone’s watching basketball this weekend anyways, so here we go:
CBS Sportsline
Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
Santana Moss is the only real outside threat, so Redskins could use help at that position.
Calais Campbell, DE, Miami
The Redskins like taking guys from Miami and Campbell has loads of physical ability. He didn’t work out well at the combine, but it’s hard to ignore his potential.
Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan State
Thomas came out of the combine with the momentum that could land him in the bottom third of the first round. He’s big enough to satisfy the Redskins’ desire for more size at receiver, and he is considered a good fit for the version of the West Coast offense Jim Zorn wants to run, because he’s dangerous after the catch. If the Redskins’ need at defensive end takes precedence, their options include Merling, Campbell or USC’s Lawrence Jackson, who is on the rise in the eyes of some teams.
Calais Campbell, DE, Miami
The Redskins want an infusion of youth on their defensive line. Campbell, who is entering the draft as a junior, figures to provide plenty of explosiveness as a pass rusher.
Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
The Redskins top priority is to add a playmaker at wide receiver. There projects to be a run of wide receivers in the bottom half of the first round, so the Redskins should get involved here before they get shut out. Sweed has been bothered by a nagging wrist injury but has an impressive blend of speed and size.
