Its Official: Three More Picks for the Redskins

As rumored, the Redskins have been awarded three compensatory draft picks in this years NFL draft. The Redskins will be adding a 3rd round pick (96th overall) and two 7th round picks (242nd and 249th). As a result of today’s new the Washington Redskins now have 9 picks in the 2008 draft or more than double than most recent Redskins drafts.

While the Redskins do have three extra picks, it’s worth noting that two of them are at the end of the 7th (and final) round in the draft; as such, the Redskins last three picks are all only slightly more useful than quality UDFAs; while that’s not a bad thing, most incoming players would rather be a UDFA than a seventh, or even late sixth, draft pick. Hopefully, the Redskins can find a Stephen Heyer style player with each of those picks.
