Washington Redskins Trade Pick 21

Jump to Comments

Washington Redskins have moved their 1st round pick – 21st overall to the Atlanta Falcons along with their 3rd round pick and a 5th round pick for 2 2nd round picks (34 and 48) and 4th round pick.

I like it. Three 2nd round picks to fill holes works for me.

  • The trade HAS to include Atlanta’s pick at 33. However, the question is WHAT ELSE? Atlanta’s #1 in ‘09?

  • Ok, that mean 3 #2, the Comp pick at #3, a #4, #6, #7, and two extra comp picks near the end of the 7th.

    EXACT same number of picks, but we now pick 3 #2s and a #4 for giving up a high #1, late #3, and a #5.

    The Redskins have done well over the years with #2 picks…. but they’ve done fairly well in the #4 and #5 (later is pretty poor). I don’t know if I like it as much as you do, Lee… we’ll have to see who comes to us in the 2nd round to know if it was worth giving up (probably) Merling. Thing is, Baker might have been available to Atlanta if they’d drafted at #34.

  • After a few minutes thought…. we might have just gotten hosed by Atlanta. If Merling is still there at 34, we did good. If not, we need a kiss, some flowers, and a phone call in a few days from the Falcons front office.

  • I think this trade is BOOTS unless Frank Chu is still available. I thought the choice of Jim Zorn was puzzling. Would have chosen Doug Williams.

  • I think this trade is BOOTS unless Frank Chu is still available. I thought the choice of Jim Zorn was puzzling. Would have chosen Doug Williams. Considering what the Cowboys got for a similar pick the Federals got jacked by the very cleverAtlanta Falcons. I wonder if Michael Vick watched the NFL Draft in the big house?

  • We got absoloutely robbed, terrible trade IMO. Unless of course a pick next year has not yet been announced. Could someone be around still come the ATL pick, probably…but speaking in terms of VALUE we didn’t do well.

  • While we’re waiting for #34, there are a LOT of trades going on late in the round… the 49ers trading with the Jets may indeed have Merling falling to #34; if we still get him there (or if he’s still available, but we choose someone else), then it’s a good trade.

  • Ok, now that the Jets have picked, we ARE going to have the opportunity to draft one of the players on our board:

    Kelly and Sweed are both still in play, as are Merling and Cambell. That said, three of the four COULD go…. but at least one is still there for the ‘Skins at 34 at this point.

  • And Merlings gone.

  • Devon Thomas? Ok, I’m hearing “One Year Wonder”, that’s not good. Obviously, we’re about to choose a DE next. Cambell is still out there, and we choose again at 48.

  • Regarding Merling, I keep hearing he’s a Phillip Daniels type of guy. Daniels is fine, but I don’t know if you go out of your way to pick a non-pass rusher.

    I’m surprised that Thomas fell that far down. Most mock drafts I looked at had him going #13 to Buffalo. I just threw up a video if anyone wants to take a look.

  • FYI – From the draft chart:

    We gave up:

    #21 (800)
    #84 (170)
    #154 (29.8)

    TOTAL = 999.8

    We got:

    #34 (560)
    #48 (420)
    #103 (88)

    TOTAL = 1068

    So according to the ‘chart’ we came out ahead.

  • I’m suddenly thinking we may go Cambell at 48 and Brohm (future #2 QB) at 51.

    Just saying….

  • Oh, man, I do NOT like the pick at #48. There is no way, with Cooley, that we needed another TE.

  • And now Cambell is gone, to. Oh, this trade was BRILLIANT. We’re getting nothing compared to what we could have had in our areas of need.

    FIRE CERRATO NOW. And Zorn; that’s the only reason we picked a TE before a DL, OL, and DB.
