Is Santana Moss Done?

Why two receivers?

That was the most common comment made by detractors of the Washington Redskins 2008 draft (with the Fred Davis pick being a close second).  The fact is, the Redskins may need to replace Santana Moss sooner than we think.

Moss has suffered a serious drop-off in performance since his spectacular 2005 season:

His 2007 season was by far his career worst, only saved by a late season revival when Todd Collins was inserted at quarterback.  I wrote many times about the lack of chemistry between Jason Campbell and Moss.  The improvement with Collins was nice, but Collins isn’t the QB of this team any more and hopefully we’ll never have to play here again.

Antwaan Randle-El had a solid season last year and seems set to play the slot receiver.  Its assumed that either Devin Thomas or Malcolm Kelly will end up stuck in a depth role, but if Moss doesn’t up his play this year, the two rookies could see significant time in 2008.
