About a month ago, I asked for comments on how we’re going to run the annual Pigskin Pick’em contest this year; at the moment, it’s still too early for me to use ESPN’s services, but not too early to start setting it up using one of the various Pool Tools out there. But I need comments to know which way you folks want it… I realize this is the deadest part of the season… the only news the last three weeks has been the signing of two more draft picks, and the release of two. We’re still 6 picks shy of having them all signed for camp, and we’re still two weeks from camp. So now is the time to make up your my mind for me, folks… do we go with ESPN’s pool, or do we go with a pool that’s locally hosted this year, like we did for the overflow (only three folks used the overflow last year). I’ll have the pool up early enough for everyone who is a regular here to easily get signed up one way or the other before it starts.

ESPN pool was fine.
If people are late, too bad.
I was one of the 3 that used the overflow pool last year, thanks again for going through all that trouble, and I preferred it to the ESPN pool. I could make my picks weeks in advance, could change them right before game time (even after the week had started, as i recall) and the local hosting had good tracking tools; although there were only 3 of us.
My recommendation to TRR is do whats easiest, my gut says that you will probably have some late stragglers again this year and will have to make the decision to have an overflow pool anyways. Why not cut out ESPN and just start fresh with the local hosting? unless cost or significant amount of more time are an issue, go with the LH pool with more flexibility.
thats my 2 cents. thanks for hosting again this year, i’ll try to be on time come august.

Bill, whichever is less work for you guys, I’d go with that. If the local hosting is much more work, then don’t do it. I’d rather have you guys posting more interesting commentary and articles than having to manage the pool.
