Breaking: Phillip Daniels - Injured ACL, Out for Season

Its not a good sign when a starting DE goes out for the season in the first practice of training camp, but here we are.  Sources are saying that Phillip Daniels has suffered an injury to his ACL and will be out for the season.  ESPN has said the Redskins immediately contacted the Miami Dolphins in an effort to acquire Jason Taylor to fill the role, but Redskins Insider says that the team has denied this report.

This is a big blow to the team obviously.  Defensive End wasn’t a position of strength to begin with and its questionable whether back-up Demetric Evans can be an effective everydown player.  Chris Wilson is more of a situational pass rusher at this point and Erasmus James is still not ready to play after off-season knee surgury.

It does appear the Redskins will need to find some replacement be it through trade or from the free agent market once some cuts come down.  Not a great start to training camp to say the least.
