I can see Taylor sticking it out, really, especially if the Redskins are going to play the Dolphins next year (2009) either in the preseason or in the regular season; you have to think that he's going to want to stick it to Parcells by playing well. Otherwise, he'd have to play four seasons to get the shot.

However, that said, we could have gotten Taylor for JUST the 2nd rounder as recently as.... Saturday. We probably could have gotten Taylor for a 3rd and the 6th, too. But losing two DEs on Day 1, the Dolphins knew we were desperate... so we paid the price that they demanded.

I guess in the end it will work out... but look what we picked up with our #2s this year. That's a hefty price for a player who may only make one season (and may not make that.... Taylor could get hurt, too).

Honestly, I like the deal. The 6th rounder means nothing and while a 2nd round pick is a hefty price to pay, the Redskins were in a desperate state. I was more concerned it was going to be a 1st round pick.

Taylor is still good. He had 11 sacks last year in his last three years and instantly becomes our best DE. A tandem of Taylor and Andre Carter is pretty darn good. Taylor may retire after this year but if he does he's leaving 8.5 million dollars on the table. That's a lot of incentive to come back. If he renegotiated and the Skins had given him $10 million guaranteed then I'd be more worried about retirement.
