The Redskin Report

After waiting and waiting for ESPN to open the Pigskin Pick’em contest, I gave up on ESPN this year…. so we’re scooting over to Yahoo! for the Pigskin Pick’em host.

For those who don’t know, The Redskin Report has a tradition of having an annual Pigskin Pick’em contest.  As such, Redskins fans have the honor of playing for Redskin Report bragging rights (both weekly, and during the season!) and a prize awarded to the season winner.  This will be the third year, and it gets better each year.

So, if you want to play, here is the relevant information:

You will need to have a Yahoo! account to join the Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Pro Football Pigskin Pick’em here and enter in the “Join Private Group” the relevant information. The group number is 17867, with a password of “JoeGibbs”.  We will be dropping the lowest week of the season.  All picks close 5 minutes before the game; that means that even if you somehow don’t get picks in for a Thursday or Saturday game, you can still get the rest of the picks in for the week.  A maximum of >50< players can play; it’s first come, first served.  If (and only if!) all of the slots are taken up before the week before Week 1 of the season, I can make an additional 10 spots available in the overflow (like last year);  I can allow players to join that even after week 1, and will do it through the end of week 2 again ONLY if the pool is totally filled, which gives a maximum of 60 slots… actually, 58, since I’ll be playing, and I’m going to insist on saving a slot for Lee Gibbons.  That means we need 48 players by the last preseason game to open the overflow (now, if somehow there’s an overwhelming response, maybe I can even get the ESPN pool going…. but they’re going to be opening very late this year, the reason for the venue change, so it’ll be tough to get in before it’s too late).

As last year, Lee is going to scrounge up a prize; the last two years, it has been a Jersey, but it may be something else if the winner chooses; however it WILL be a Washington Redskins based prize… Cowboy or Eagles fans need not apply unless you want to sport a Redskins item.
