Redskins Tune up for Panthers

Its time again for the near annual pre-season match-up against the Carolina Panthers.  This is the 2nd last pre-season game for the Redskins and the last where we will see much of the starters.  It is also the last pre-season game before cut-downs begin next week.  Some notes:

  • Starters are expected to play the 1st half of the game on Saturday.  Jim Zorn is treating the game as a rehearsal for the regular season so you’ll see the scripted plays and all the west coasty stuff you’d expect from Zorn.  I still wouldn’t expect any trickery or fanciness on offense or special teams.
  • Malcolm Kelly has been participating in team drills during practice with the 2nd unit.  He’s not 100% yet so its unknown if he will play yet on Saturday but he should be ready for the season opener.  Devin Thomas has been seeing time with the 1st unit in certain formations.
  • The Redskins made a roster move earlier this week, releasing LB Rian Wallace and signing LB David Holliday.  Wallace has been injured quite a bit this camp and if he heals up could return if injuries mount up at linebacker.

BallHype: hype it up!
