First Series of Cuts Come In
The cuts have begun to come in and they include one veteran and a couple of rookies. This will be updated as the full list comes in, I’ll add comments where warrented.
- Vernon Fox - Fox was facing an uphill battle and with both rookie safties - Chris Horton and Kareem Moore, looking good, he was out of luck.
- Babatunde Oshinowo
- Dorian Smith
- Matt Sinclair - Some thought Sinclair was going to stick this year, although a lot of that was based on his being dressed for a few games late last year after injuries depleted the linebacking spot. Sinclair suffered a back injury and is out for 3 months so he could reappear at some point late in the year or more likely next year’s training camp.
- Burl Toler
This should be the last of the cuts as the team is now down to 75 guys which is the roster limit as of tomorrow. The next round of cuts is where the major blood-letting will occur.
UPDATE: We have one more move. Jason Goode, he of the winning TD catch against the Jets a few weeks back, has been snipped due to injury. The Redskins re-signed LB Danny Verdun-Wheeler to bring the roster back up to the limit.

Fox and Sinclair both will be on the recall list at some point this season; hopefully, we won’t need either one, as their being recalled means that one of the players in those positions is injured.
Fox may have a shot at being picked up by another team (maybe as high as 50%) in the next few weeks, or during the early season safety injuries; Sinclair’s injury means that no one will pick him up this season until the late season, at best; by that point, realistically, only the Redskins or MAYBE the Jaguars would be interested in him as anything more than a body.
Both may be back in camp next year, though.
