Redskins Pummeled, Dodge Bullet on J.Taylor

The Washington Redskins were utterly destroyed last night losing 47-3 to the Carolina Panthers.  No easy way around it, the offensive line was awful.  Jason Campbell was hit on basically every passing attempt and the offense couldn’t get anything going.  The defense was burned for some long runs and gave up two fairly long TD passes.  But it was just a pre-season game and you’d hope the team can rebound in time for the regular season opener.

Perhaps the biggest news in the NFC East occured in New York yesterday.  While the Redskins were breathing a sigh relief on the injury report on Jason Taylor (sprained knee – out 10-14 days), the Giants received devastating news.  DE Osi Umenyiora is out for the season after suffereing extensive ligament damage in his knee.  The Giants were built on a strong pass rush (and after the Redskins offensive line last night that was going to be a huge concern in the opener) but they are now missing both starting defensive ends from last season.  This is a monster loss for the Giants.
