Pigskin Pick’em Week 6-Agony of Defeat Edition
All of Redskins Nation is still shell shocked over our loss to the previously winless Rams and Al “700 Pages” Saunders. Even those who were worried about the possibility of a trap game are probably surprised at the way we lost, having outgained the Rams and outplayed them in all but two areas: Special Teams, and Turnovers. While we all knew that eventually we would have to cough it up, it seems particularly ironic that we would lose primarily because of a turnover. The good news is that Dallas lost, as well (and lost Tony Romo for an extended period due to a broken thumb… current projections are that he’s out for 4 weeks or more), so we’re still tied for second in the NFC East one game back from the Giants, who were thrashed this week, too. As Coach Zorn says, “All of our goals are still ahead of us”, so perhaps we can learn from this game.
This week’s top players were Maroon & Yellow Fever, with 11 points and Java_woman, with 10 points. In our current 14 game “Bye Weeks”, those are pretty fair weeks, and a keeper in anyone’s book. Props to them for their great weeks!
Upset pick of the week WOULD be St. Louis over Washington, but no one picked the Rams; I can’t blame that on Redskins Homer-ism, either, as it was considered VERY unlikely. Therefore, the second biggest upset was the Arizona Cardinals over the Dallas Cowboys (I’m going to ignore the Giants losing), chosen by chris horton hears a who, Texas Redskin, Star City Sportzkatz, last year’s season winner A. Fishman’s picks, Fletchskins, theofilidies, and Veretax’s Picks. These seven players correctly foresaw (or at least are going to claim to have foreseen) that the Cards would block a punt in overtime and return it for a touchdown. Kudos to them for having the upset pick of the week!
And finally, we come to our season leader. Two weeks ago, we were going Highlander, with only one player on top. Last week, we had a logjam with 6 players at the top, but this week, we’re back in “King of the Hill” mode, with a single player leading the way. Props to Java_woman for her leading the way. Following hard on her heels are Pizzatown, chris horton hears a who, and 22209. Props to all four of our season leaders, and keep up the good work.
Hopefully this week coming up will be a better week for all of the players, and a better week for the Redskins, too.

Too bad I only got 5 of the games right this weekend, the Kudos on picking the Cards is nice, I’d rather have had more games right… Oh well
